Gepresenteerd op: Second International Meeting on Wind Turbine Noise, Lyon, France, 20-21 september 2007.
Samenvatting:
In this paper the results from the European 5th Framework project 'SIROCCO' are described. The project started in January 2003 and will end in August 2007. This project is coordinated by the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) with the following participants National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR, the Netherlands), the University of Stuttgart (USTUTT) from Germany and Gamesa Eólica from Spain. GE Wind Energy joined the project in May 2005. The main aim of the SIROCCO project is to reduce wind-turbine aerodynamic noise significantly while maintaining the aerodynamic performance. This is achieved by designing new acoustically and aerodynamically optimised airfoils for the outer part of the blade. The project focussed primarily on reducing trailing edge noise, which was broadly believed to be the dominant noise mechanism of modern wind turbines.
