Samenvatting:
In order to enable a proper selection of about five different concepts for a 5MW offshore turbine based on given control and protection system; a systematic description has been given of the functional breakdown of the turbines. Based on this functional breakdown, the interactions of the different functions have been mapped and the consequences of the choice for different options to fulfil the prescribed functions have been described. Next to this systematic approach a more intuitive selection has been made to guarantee sufficient variety in the designs that are passed on to the next task within the project to be optimised for proper determination of the actual cost of the generated energy.
