Samenvatting:
During the R and D phase of the Archimedes Wave Swing (AWS) development, numerical and analytical models have been developed to analyse the dynamic
behaviour of the AWS and to determine the power output and loads during its
lifetime. In order to verify the computer models and their predictions, it
was decided to perform tests in a wave basin with a physical model, scale
1:50. This paper contains the results of the scale model tests. The tests
proved that linear theory which has been developed for point absorbers is
valid. The measured power output figures, efficiencies and stroke ratios are
close to the values determined by linear theory. The model tests also
revealed to what extent non-linear effects (e.g. friction) have to be taken
into account. 3 refs.
