Samenvatting:
An aeroelastic wind turbine optimization code has been developed andapplied in practice. The code iteratively calls a wind turbine time
simulation package to determine the aeroelastic behaviour of the design. A
new aerodynamic and structural rotor design, optimised for minimum cost of
generated energy, has been established. The maximization of energy yield has
been balanced with the minimization of the fatigue loading on the tower and
on the blades. The aeroelastic optimization has resulted in 10% reduction of
the fatigue loads, leading to a 6% reduction of the blade and tower costs and
a 1% lower cost of generated energy compared with a stationary optimised
rotor. Due to the limited scope of the case study larger reductions of loads
and costs will be possible. 4 figs., 2 tabs., 6 refs.
