In the Construction
Products Directive (CPD) the main issue relating to environment is the
essential requirement on hygiene, health and environment, where it is
specified that in standards concerning construction products reference
shall be made to dangerous substances and ionising radiation. A horizontal
approach is considered the best route for the required test development.
The following issues
have been addressed: approaches to address environmental impact from
construction materials; summary of existing methods for evaluation of
composition and leaching of ?dangerous substances? from construction
materials; summary of available test data on construction materials
and scenario approach to assess environmental issues of materials (soil,
waste and construction materials).
