Samenvatting:
Solar home systems could be an excellent fit for the Clean DevelopmentMechanism under the Kyoto Protocol because they directly displace greenhouse
gas emissions while contributing to sustainable rural development. Selling
certified emission reduction credits under the CDM could help to accelerate
SHS deployment. High transaction costs related to CDM procedures might
however, prevent SHSs from benefiting from the CDM. The report explores
how standardised baselines and streamlined monitoring and verification
procedures could assist in reducing those transaction costs.
