Samenvatting:
In the study on the title subject the range in the development ofdomestic electricity use has been investigated. Special attention is paid to
the relationship between penetration rate and use of appliances and life
style trends, e.g. an increase of convenience, lack of time, social
comparison, aging and an increase in net income due to economic growth.
First, a historical analysis of the use of electricity in households is
carried out. Next, the methodology and results of different forecasting
studies are compared. Finally, some model calculations are made to determine
the effect of different scenario parameters, e.g. economic growth, energy
prices, efficiency improvement of appliances and an increase in disposable
income, on the development of the electricity consumption by households. 12
