Samenvatting:
2007 was a remarkable year in many respects. In February, Al Gore won an Oscar (Best Documentary) for his film An Inconvenient Truth, which had already served as a wake-up call, drawing the attention of the public and policy-makers to the threat of climate change. The climate was and continues to be hot news, the high point perhaps being the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Gore and the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Gore and Rajendra Pachauri, representing the IPCC, received the prestigious prize for their efforts to develop and disseminate the knowledge needed on human-caused climate change so that action can be taken to combat it.
