Samenvatting:
In the workshop ‘H2O for Energy’, organized by students association RUW at Wageningen university on 21 February 2012, the case was presented of seven water-related renewable energy technologies. These are conventional hydropower, tidal stream power, tidal barrier power, wave power, osmotic energy, aquatic biomass, and Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC). All but one, namely aquatic biomass, produce electricity. Aquatic biomass provides biofuels and feedstock for biochemicals. The option of OTEC may be interesting for regions of the world near the equator and with access to deep ocean water (1,000 m and more).
