Samenvatting:
We have developed an interactive user interface to a 1-D simulation ofcrystalline silicon solar cells. Its operation is similar to computer games
such as flight simulators. The user is presented with screens displaying
output characteristics of the simulated solar cell, for example I-V curve,
spectral response, optical reflection and transmission. The user can change
the inputs to the simulation in an intuitive way, typically with sliders and
the mouse. As soon as the user changes the setting of a control, a simulation
run is done and the output results are updated. The response is immediate
because both the hardware and the simulation are fast. The direct interaction
with the simulation makes it much easier for the user to explore the
characteristics of the model and obtain a feeling for the importance and
interaction of the input parameters. This is especially attractive for
educational purposes. Optimisation- and inverse modelling can be performed
easily, making the software attractive for diverse design and modelling
tasks. 5 figs., 13 refs.
